TOPIC: Where to get Minnows?

Where to get Minnows? 1 year, 11 months ago #824

Hi guys, im consistantly getting skunked on scugog and rice lake.. well not skunked but really small perch which i have been throwing back. So i'd like to make a drive up to simcoe and try some perch fishing...

Do you guys know where i can find some minnows early in the morning? i dont have anyway to keep'em alive overnight. I'd like to be around jackson's Point, Virginia beach or possibly beaverton..

Any info is appreciated. thanks.

Hey sighless,

The only baitshop close to there would be Casey's in Port Bolster.

You could call them to find out more. I not sure what time they open.

Hey sighless,

You should try to get together with Evanxrs for Perch.

Evan is our resident Perch King.

Good luck, and let us know when Caseys opens....... if you talk to them.

Thanks,

Garry.

Hey Sighless,

I have learned to find Perch in many area's around the lake and almost all from shore. JP is typically a great place to fish for Perch.
2 weeks ago was killer.

There is a bait shop on the 400 north of Teston road at the service station that opens at 5am.
I think in the summer, some times they are 24 hours on the Friday - thru the weekend.

It is right behind the gas station.

There is one right in Sutton also, like 2 seconds from JP and they open at 7 am usually.

- Virginia Beach, Talbot, JP, Barrie Marina, Atherly Narrows are all great places for Perch.

However as it gets warm the big HOGS!!! move deeper. 30-50ft.

Be prepared to keep all perch caught at 50 ft. as their swim bladders will come up through the mouth and they will not survive.

The fall is great for Jumbo's too. Dont usually target Perch in the summer, but we can always try.

This board is great, be involved and participate in discussions and you will meet some great friends and fishing partner's...

We were out for Trout today. Frank will post some pics and a report today or tomorrow.

All the best,

Evan

Thanks for the info, hopefully I can get out there in a few days after I finish my night shifts...

If I catch anything worth keeping, I'll be sure to file a report on here and let everyone know how it went.
